Before leaving the Sleeping Forest, Aeris had took the time to say farewell to each of the friends whom she made on this long journey of hers. She had wished she could say goodbye to her mother.. Elmyra and even Marlene. But.. they were too far away but she was certain that small girl would sense it if anything were to happen to her. she was special. That is what Aeris had believed. The last goodbye she said was to Cloud and most important one of all. Even muttered out the words ' I'll come back when it's all over '. But something told her in the midst of her stomach, that will not come to pass.
Once leaving the Sleeping Forest, she headed to her next destination and that being the forgotten capital. Taking the white materia behind her pink ribbon, she held it in hand and it shined in the light.. giving a last sparkle. Only hoped the white materia was more than enough to end the incoming meteor that is coming to the planet. If not.. so many lives would come to an end.
In no time on foot, the brunette made it to the forgotten capital.. the city of the ancients. Is this where her own kind used to live ? who knows.. there wasn't time for that. She came here for a reason. A important duty of hers to fulfill. With a heavy heart on her sleeves, the cetra headed up the alter and kneeled on the ground, putting the white materia before her and proceeded to pray for holy. In this prayers of hers, she had hoped.. she was doing this right as no one had taught her to do it. Her mother.. real mother. So.. she felt very alone in this.. having to take on a big task. Why she wanted to do this ? to protect the planet and all of her friends.
Something told her that her friends may want to come and find her. But, would they interfere and stop this process ? Maybe or possibly. But, it has to be done. Though.. she fears he may be here soon enough. Sephiroth.. she believes.
Sephiroth was also in the Forgotten City, as the power he sought was there. As he came out of the chamber, still shaking and reeling from suddenly being sane again and feeling such guilt and grief and anguish over all he had done, he stopped short and stared.
Aeris....
What was this? A vision of the past? Was it not enough to feel the horror over his actions? He would have to witness them happening anew?
He still didn't realize he had time-traveled, or that Aeris would be able to see him.
With her hands clenched tightly together as her full concentration was on praying and strengthening the power of holy, she had barely noticed someone was there. She could of swore it would be any of her friends but once.. her eyes had abruptly opened, the answer was something that Aeris did not expected.
It was no other than Sephiroth. Then again, it wasn't much of an surprise for her. Mostly because she was the last remaining cetra left on the planet and probably wanted to get rid of her.
" Sephiroth...? You're here...? Looks like the others aren't here yet. I'm sure your here.. for me, aren't you ? " Clearly meaning to put an end for her. Doesn't mean she will fight til her last breath if she has to.
He stopped short, staring. She could see him? How? Why?
... He had to really be there, somehow. He was in the past.
Could he change it?
"I ..." Would she even believe him? "I'm not from this time period. I'm from the future. I'm sane, but the me you were expecting isn't. He will kill you, unless ... perhaps ... we can change it...."
It was a lot to expect her to process all at once, but he had to work quickly if he was going to try to save her. His eyes were filled with both sorrow and urgency.
" You aren't from this time period...? The future . . ? What are you talking about ? I...I.. don't understand. How can I trust you and your words on that? "
How did he know such things before her? Sure, she had a feeling her life could come to an end. If she did.. she would of end up in the Lifestream and barely do anything other than watch her friends.. struggle against meteor and even Sephiroth. Does it make this Sephiroth as a fake or the real one ? Aeris already knew about Jenova and the hatred she may feel against the cetra's.
"Before I agree to that.. What will happen if we end up changing my fate? What will happen to you..?" She believed if they were to change her fate, she would be able to stay alive. But, for how long? Though, she would thankful to be alive.. just long enough to protect the planet and everyone. It's the most important thing right now.
He sighed. “I realize you have no reason to trust me, and I do not know how to prove it to you. I … wanted to be sane again. I found a power hidden here that purged me of Jenova’s influence. Apparently it also sent me into the past.”
He bowed his head. “As to what will happen to us both if this is changed, I don’t know. But to be here, to have a chance to fix some of what I did, it must mean there’s the possibility we can do it.”
He was right. She should not trust him. But.. something compelled her to listen to what he had to say. She had at least hear him out. who knows, he may be telling the honest truth. Guess that could be one good trait about her. Always trying to see some sort of good thing about everyone. Even if meant.. it being someone like Sephiroth.
"You found a power hidden here? I wonder what that may be. I doubt it is the white materia that was given by my birth mother long time ago. I always found it to be useless anyways. " She lets out a soft sigh in between her lips.
"If we can fix what is happening.. so I don't have to sacrifice my own life for the safety of the planet or no one has to suffer.. then I'll be up for that task. No matter how hard it may be hard to accomplish."
"No, it was not the white materia," Sephiroth agreed. He knew its power, but did Aeris really not know yet? Or was she just saying that because of not trusting him? "It was, however, another item the Ancients left."
A nod. "We should leave here before the insane me arrives." When they were safe, perhaps then he should tell about the white materia, in case she really didn't know about it yet.
"Hmm... I see." So apparently, the white materia must of held so much power within the power but Aeris could not see it. Maybe.. in truth.. she wasn't strong enough to make that power come out. There wasn't time for that or get stronger as the last remaining cetra. "Another item they left? I don't see any other items around here unless it's hidden."
Knowing the Ancients.. they probably hid it somewhere that would be safe. If it was pretty.. important and yet special. "Yes, that's right. Let's get going then." She got got off her knees and stood up straight before walking behind him but stayed close enough. She had questions.. and one of them being about the white materia. It seemed he might of knew more about the orb than she does. Aeris assumed nothing more than thought it was useless. But apparently it didn't seem that way.
"Yes, it was hidden inside a secret chamber," Sephiroth said. "After I used it, it glowed brightly and vanished. Or perhaps it was I that vanished, as I ended up here, in the past."
He slowed his pace to allow Aeris to come alongside him if she wanted; he was uneasy about not seeing her. The insane him could come up so silently.
And what about when Cloud and the others came? They would certainly be much less likely to believe him about why he was there. Part of him still wondered if this was a bizarre dream he was having. But ... it seemed to be real.... In any case, he had to treat it as though it were real, because it could be.
" A secret chamber..? I don't think I was ever told about that. If I was.. I was too young to recall something like that. " Her mother, Ifalna probably forgotten to tell her about that or just was too sick. In which she knew her mother was always sickly. "If you say that it brought you here, maybe, it is truly that powerful."
For now, she just walked right behind him.. just being cautious as ever. After all.. this Sephiroth.. seeing him.. quite sane is new to her. So, its to be expected of her to be this way. But.. Aeris only wondered what if the insane Sephiroth were to show up? Would he fight him and protect her in the process? That would be something else.
Still, she knew Cloud and the others would be concerned if they don't see Aeris at the altar and wonder where she went. Or.. if they see two Sephiroth's at the sametime. It would be hard to explain yet she couldn't understand it all, either.
"Perhaps she didn't know," Sephiroth mused. "If she did, I am sure she would have told you."
He kept close watch on her, looking over his shoulder repeatedly as they walked. He could sense the insane him somewhere there. Had he seen them? Was he stalking them? Or did they have the advantage for now?
Reaching the doorway, he stepped outside and then waited for Aeris. He was ready to summon the Masamune if he had to. He would indeed fight the insane him to protect Aeris.
